In this fast-paced two-reeler, Peggy’s reluctant engagement drives her suitor Homer into a tizzy. A garden party turns into slapstick chaos when a bungled elopement plot collides with errant bees, runaway props, and pratfalls galore. Between sudden bee invasions, a surprise cow-costume gag, and a locomotive chase, the short packs Sennett’s trademark wild energy into 21 minutes of talkie-era mayhem.
Trivia:
- One of Mack Sennett’s earliest ventures into synchronized sound, preserving his silent-era slapstick style with rudimentary dialogue.
- Originally released by Educational Pictures, it runs approximately 21 minutes.
- Many early Sennett talkies failed to have their copyrights renewed, placing The Bees’ Buzz into the public domain and ensuring its survival in numerous archival prints.
